CLINICS
Asthma Management Clinic
Tuesday 3.00 - 5.00pm
Both adults
and children are seen at this clinic. An appointment can be made at reception.
Minor Surgery
Dr Johnston runs this clinic on Tuesdays 9.30am
- 12 noon. Many minor surgical procedures such as removal of cysts, skin lesions
and joint injections can be carried out under local anaesthesia. Appointments
are by referral from your doctor.
Wart Clinic
Warts and verrucae can be treated by the application
of liquid nitrogen. Appointments can be made by contacting the treatment room nurse.
Cervical Smear Clinic
Monday and Tuesday 9.00am - 1.00pm/2.00 - 5.00pm
Cervical screening
is offered to all female patients at three-yearly intervals (aged 25 to 49) and five-yearly intervals (aged 50 to 64).
Patients will be written to informing them of the result of their smear and advising
them when they should make their next appointment. This clinic is held by the
practice nurse.
Near Patient Testing
The
treatment of several diseases, particularly in the field of rheumatology, is increasingly
reliant on drugs that, while clinically effective, entail regular blood monitoring.
These blood tests will be carried out by the practice nurse upon referral from
your doctor.
Diabetic Clinic
Thursday
9.00am - 5.00pm
This clinic is run by appointment with our diabetic nurse
in conjunction with Dr Smyth. Patients are referred to this clinic to obtain appropriate
education and advice and reduce the risks of any complication with diabetes.
Anti-Coagulation Clinic
Wednesday 9.00 - 10.30am
For the care of
patients taking warfarin the practice nurse holds a monitoring clinic.
Adult Vaccinations
Tetanus and Polio - all patients should ensure
they are adequately immunised against tetanus and polio.
Flu Vaccines -
are available each September for patients 65+ or patients at risk due to certain
medical conditions, eg asthma, diabetes, kidney disease or heart disease. For
an appointment please contact reception.
Travel Vaccines - please make
arrangements well in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. To make
an appointment please contact reception. Travel vaccines will be administered on alternate Thursday afternoons by agreement with the treatment room nurse. Telephone 028 8675 8416.
Ear Syringing
This is carried out on Monday am and Friday pm only by prior arrangement with the treatment room nurse. Telephone 028 8675 8416.
Child Health Clinic
Tuesday/Thursday 2.00 - 3.30pm
The
clinics are run by Dr Wray/Dr Johnston for first child development checks and
immunisations.
This is also an opportunity to discuss other problems eg
sleeping, feeding, with a doctor/health visitor.
Antenatal Clinic
Thursday 2.30 - 4.30pm
Patients are seen
at the clinic by appointment with the midwife and also by doctors if necessary.
Full
antenatal/postnatal care is provided by all the doctors in the practice.
Family
Planning
Contraceptive care is provided by all the doctors
in the practice.
Other Clinics
We run a number of other clinics at the practice currently these include COPD, epilepsy, heart disease, hypertension, kidney disease, learning disabilities, mental health, peripheral vascular disease, stroke and thyroid disease.
