HOW DO I... OBTAIN TELEPHONE ADVICE?
If
you require telephone advice the practice nurse / treatment room nurse may be
able to assist you since it is not always possible to speak to the doctor. The
best time to speak to the doctor is between 12 noon - 12.45pm. Staff have been
asked not to disturb consultations with non-urgent telephone calls. It is not
necessary to speak to the doctor to obtain test results; the doctor will leave
instructions if appropriate.
HOW DO I... MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
Appointments are for 10 minutes only. However, some patients' problems may take longer than others, so please be patient if there is a delay. Appointments can be booked for same day or in advance.
Seeing The Doctor
The doctor can only be seen by appointment,
which can be made with a receptionist, either by calling at the surgery or telephoning
028 8676 2995.
Please Make One Appointment Per Person
Delays are caused for everyone if two people are seen at one appointment.
Translators
Patients requiring assistance in any language
should inform reception of the need for an interpreter. A referral for an interpreter will be made by the
practice. In the case of an emergency, we have access to a telephone interpreter.
Cancellations
It is essential that you telephone if you cannot keep your appointment. Even at short
notice we can usually allocate your appointment to someone else.
Emergencies
For emergencies during surgery hours telephone 028 8676 2995 and press number 1 on
your telephone. Between 8.30am and 5.30pm, urgent requests will be given prompt
attention by the receptionists and the doctor will be informed. It will be necessary
for the receptionist to ask details regarding the condition of the patient so
the doctor can assess the urgency of the call. It may be necessary for the patient to attend the treatment room at a time specified by staff.
HOW DO I... OBTAIN A HOME VISIT?
Please do not ask the doctor to make a home visit if you are well enough
to come to the surgery.
If you ask for a home visit you should give a complete
description of the patient's condition so that the doctor can judge if a home
visit is necessary.
Other than in a case of emergency, all requests for home visits should be made
by telephoning 028 8676 2995 before 10.00am.
Please remember
that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to make
a home visit.
HOW DO I... OBTAIN TEST RESULTS?
Results and investigations, eg blood tests, x-rays etc are available by telephoning
028 867 62995 between 2.00 - 3.00pm. Information will not be
given to another person unless we have your prior permission.
Certain
results will only be given in person or writing. The treatment room/practice nurse
will advise you as to how and when to obtain results.
